Dr. Elaine Chin is a physician, author, founder of multiple medical and wellness centers, thought leader in the field of precision and personalized medicine and a trailblazer in putting these principles into practice.
We introduced the idea that using technology available today – called precision diagnostics – physicians can assess a patient’s unique genes and other biological markers and then use this information to custom tailor a treatment and wellness plan to that patient.
Precision medicine has grown in popularity in recent years, supported by new research and a widening scope of practice. To me, what is most exciting is the application of precision diagnostic tools to guide patients into lifestyle changes that can prevent later onset of disease, as well its application to optimizing health and wellness – two areas with immense social and public health potential.
