Ring out the old and ring in the new is the understatement of the year during these covid times and what better way to finish off what remains of 2020 than by recognizing all the great music from amazing artists that helped us all cope with the turmoil that surrounded us. Here then is the latest TRANSMUSIC AIRWAVES (Episode #399), my Best Of 2020 Special, with my selections of favorite releases to grace our ears and bring a smile to our faces.
I'll start off the show with BRYAN SCARY (from his 'Birds' release) and next turn to SPARKS (from their stellar album, 'A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip') then follow with a rhythmical cut from MARK GUILIANI, later adding two newly acquired tracks from ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER and THE MOUNTAIN GOATS, and cuts from SUFJAN STEVENS & LOWELL BRAMS, THE DISTRICTS, and OS MUTANTES.
There's plenty to choose from musically this go round with locally bred artists 15-60-75 (THE NUMBERS BAND), HARVEY GOLD, CHRIS BUTLER, ALLEN RAVENSTINE, LONG TALL DEB & COLIN JOHN, and GOLEMS OF THE RED PLANET all making musical statements, internationally based sounds from SPROINGG, SOAUD MASSI, and CODE SANGALA, 'live' cuts from NICK MASON'S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS and PERE UBU, and Chicago 'surf' from THE BREAKERS and OUTRONAUT.
