Transformation Tuesdays was inspired by the CD "The Jesus Question" by Matthew Kelly. We recap the Gospel from the prior Sunday and give action steps and resources to transform our lives for that week every Tuesday at 2:10 p.m. at Morris Hall. Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione: Hello, I’m Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione Aaron Emig: And I’m Aaron Emig And we are spicing it up a little bit with having a student from Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School as our special guest… This is Christopher Ven de Reit… We are now in the 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time… This week’s Question is… Are you the salt of the earth and the light of the world? The Gospel comes from: Matthew 5:13-16 Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione: I think the role of the Christian in the world is defined by two words in today’s gospel: salt and light. Salt adds to the taste of food. Jesus is saying that as salt is to food, so are Christians to the world. As salt, we are called to bring “the flavor of Christ” to the world by what we say and do. Light brightens the darkness and makes it easier for us and others to find our way. As light, we are called to show the way to Christ. Christopher Ven de Reit: If you believe in God, but do not pray or spread his word, your relationship with Him is not strong. We must first strengthen our relationship with Him so that we can help others to do the same. Aaron Emig: Great analogies that Jesus gave us… Salt of the earth… Like a lampstand… If salt loses taste, then what? Do you hide you lamp under the bed? God wants us to shine onto everyone… And we do that with our actions and good deeds… Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione: Today’s gospel is challenging. It says, in effect, that if there is so much darkness and bitterness in the world today it is because we as Christians have failed in our Christian duty to be salt and light in the world. But we can decide to make a difference starting today. Christopher Ven de Reit: To strengthen your relationship with him, pray on a regular basis. We can also help other people build their relationships with God by giving them a ride to church, or praying with them. Aaron Emig: We need to be more “Christ like” every day in our actions… People do what people see… So, if you are Christian and people see you doing bad deeds, then why should they follow Christians and believe in Christ? Aaron Emig: Wisdom Words for the Week “Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.” Saint Teresa of Calcutta Aaron Emig: Transformation Tool “The Jesus Question” CD from Matthew Kelly Matthew talks about how in the beginning of the Catechism that God created man for happiness… Then he says, “how’s that working out for you?” Again, it’s up to you and no one else…. Free copies at Morris Hall on Tuesdays at 2:10 p.m. Only while supplies last Aaron Emig: Transformation Tuesdays Prayer…“Jesus, how do You want me to transform my life today?” Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione: God Bless from Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church…A Spiritual Home for Everyone
