In today’s episode we talk to Catie O’Neill and Olivia Burrows, the Co-Founders of My Glow 2.
My Glow 2 was created after a visit to Turkey, which led them to discover an ancient beauty secret at local Hamman where they were introduced to a silk mitt used by therapists to exfoliate the skin during the bathing ritual. Incredibly impressed with the results they were inspired to start their own brand, manufacturing and selling the exfoliating silk gloves. And within just 15 months of operation, they have achieved seven figure results, despite delays due to the pandemic.
A large part of their success can be credited to social media, in particular TikTok. The women quickly recognised that there was an opportunity to leverage the organic reach TikTok provides by creating unique content for the loyal followers. Today they boast over 40 million views!
During our conversation with Catie and Olivia we discuss their motivation for getting the business started and how social media has contributed to the success. We also talk about the avenues that their popularity on TikTok has opened and how they maintain this momentum. They also talk about the effect COVID had on the running of their business and how sales continued to grow, even while in lockdown due to the rise in “self-care”. Catie and Olivia also talk through their international expansion and their plans to continue this in the short term. And finally, Olivia talks about balancing her role as High School teacher whilst working with Catie on My Glow 2, and their big plans for the future.
