A special episode this week. The Urban Dictionary defines a “Pub Test” as “an Australian term to describe the collective opinion of everyday Australians”. What doesn’t Pass the Pub Test is not asking for help when you need it and with National Mental Health Month coming up in October, Bicks and I thought we’d take a break from normal programming to talk not so much about “mental health” but “mental fitness”. In this first episode Natasha Tunney and Dan spoke to Gus Worland who founded Gotcha4Life and the 24 Hour Row where clubs from around Australia and the world row on an ergo – a rowing machine - for 24 hours straight to raise funds for mental well-being. What we liked about what Gus said was not to talk about “mental health” but “mental fitness” – just as if we’re not physically fit, we do exercises and go to trainers and physios to get physically fit. Gus says it’s the same for “mental fitness”.
