We often hear from readers who are feeling overwhelmed because their partner isn't pulling their weight, so on this episode of The One Fab Day Wedding Podcast, we wanted to have a frank discussion about the relationship dynamics of planning a wedding. A wedding is a celebration of the love between two people, so, as far as we're concerned, putting the whole thing together should be a two-person job (with lots of help from willing volunteers, of course!) That's why we sat down with a real-life engaged couple, Eoin and Yvette, to hash out some of the trickier aspects of planning a wedding with your partner, from settling on your priorities, to dividing up the tasks and to sharing the financial burden. Plus, we talk choosing the bridal party and easy ways to put your guests at ease on the big day.

Episode Breakdown: Episode 12 - Why it Takes Two to Plan a Wedding

Wedding tip: This week, we're championing creating a printed timeline to display in your wedding venue. This may seem like a small detail, but believe us, it'll put your guests at ease if they know where they're supposed to be, and when!

Main topic: Our guests this week are real-life engaged couple, Eoin O'Neill and Yvette Poufong. Yvette is a broadcaster and marketing whiz, and Eoin is a videographer with a sideline in whiskey (he's one half of Whiskey Barons, who organise tastings all around the country), and they're busily getting ready for their wedding in June. With their help, we discuss how to get on the same page as your partner during wedding planning and, crucially, how to stay there.

Wedding dilemma: A listener writes, “I have two girls I've been friends with for 15 years. We meet every now and again but we were quite close. They are expecting to be my bridesmaids. However, since I got engaged they haven't been interested in me at all. I invited them over the weekend post-engagement and they just complained about their own problems the whole night (one hasn't even acknowledged I'm engaged at all). They have no interest, one will be emigrating early next year so won’t be around for planning at all either. I want to ask a college pal to be my bridesmaid, she is fantastic and has been so helpful and enthusiastic as long as I've known her, even more so since I got engaged. But I will lose the other two as friends if I don't ask them. What do I do?” This week, we're delivering some no-nonsense #realtalk on choosing your bridal party.

Something to do when you're not planning your wedding: In a move that should surprise no-one, we have another food-based recommendation this week! Claire suggests creating a restaurant bucket list for your town or city.
