The legend of King Arthur and the Sword in the Stone is known throughout England, and this is the story of the stones location.
I decided to write about Wadhams Castle and historical Knightly deeds of King Arthur and also acknowledging the philanthropist attributes of the Wadham family.
Plus of course, just to the North of wadhams Castle is the location of Royal Air Force Merryfield or more simply RAF Merryfield built during World War 2. Home of the USAAF and for security reasons by the USAAF during the war, was referred to instead of location. Its USAAF Station Code was "MF".
During May 1944, 1500 American troops of the 101st Airborne Division arrived at Merryfield in preparation for D-Day. Just a part of the 24,000 airborne troops destined for Normandy.
What else? Simply, I wanted to put Wadhams Castle back on the map - it is a great place.
During the story the narrator will refer to a "number" after some references. These numbers refer to historical books and transcripts as listed with the Acknowledgement Chapter.
