It’s called "the silent killer" and for good reason.

One in three deaths around the world is caused by cardiovascular diseases.

That’s almost 20 million people. And with aging populations, the problem is increasing.

What happens if you have heart failure in a remote community - and the nearest hospital is hundreds if kilometres away?

How do we ensure everyone gets good care?

These are critical questions that researcher and cardiologist Heather Ross has been grappling with for decades.

She herself faced a life and death situation with her own heart and that experience had a huge impact on how she sees her work and mission.

Hope you listen to what this brilliant doctor has to say about heart health and living life to the fullest.

INFO ON GUEST:

Dr. Heather Ross is head of the Division of Cardiology at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at UHN. She’s also a Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She received the Order of Canada in 2020.
