Wie sehr das deutsche Edelmetall beim Schwimmen prickelt, das erzählt SZ-Sportchef Claudio Catuogno aus Tokio. Ebenfalls vor Ort in der Halle wirkt Michael Augustin (NDR) – und das wird so bleiben. Die deutschen Handballer haben auch den zweiten Klassiker verloren, Markus Götz (Sky) ordnet die Pleiten ein. Elmar Paulke (DAZN) wiederum plädiert für einen neuen Wettbewerb unter den fünf Ringen. Wie groß ist Simone Biles? Jürgen Schmieder (SZ) und Heiko Oldörp (NDR) nehmen eine Einordnung vor.
