There's something truly inspiring about hearing someone's personal journey, especially when that journey involves overcoming adversity and using it to fuel their purpose. Our guest today fits the bill and we’re excited to introduce you to Luna Medina-Wolf. In this episode, she serves up an incredible narrative that speaks to the power of resilience, authentic connections, and community service.

Join us to learn about her personal journey from Israel to South Florida and how it’s shaped her practice and perspective. You’ll get to an inside perspective of her time with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), learn how she navigated unexpected twists in her career path, and glean insights into her philosophy in building genuine relationships.

Her commitment to ethical business practices as the founder of Helping Moon Counseling is also showcased in our conversation as she emphasizes the importance of returning calls, fostering real relationships, and an ethical approach to business expansion. Despite starting her practice without any business education, Luna has achieved significant growth, attributing her success to grit and resilience.

The episode also highlights Luna's remarkable work in the aftermath of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting with Professionals United for Parkland. It underlines the power of community response in times of crisis and the importance of 'paying it forward'.

Luna and her team at Helping Moon Counseling demonstrate the need to meet the changing needs of their community, reinforcing the essence of service in their practice.

Here’s some of what we discuss in this episode:

  • How she dealt with perceived failure when her practicum wasn’t approved and turned that into a huge positive in her life.
  • Her experience serving in the Israeli military and what it was like undergoing the psychological and mental assessments.
  • The journey from starting the private practice to building it to 28 people and the culture she’s tried to create for her company.
  • Building a better business through hiring and delegation and how that’s made a big difference in the balance in her life.
  • Her and her husband have taken a very fluid and organic approach to business rather than having a rigid plan to guide them.
  • Her involvement with Professionals United for Parkland and how it started with a list of volunteers that grew quickly. Plus, what’s on the agenda moving forward?
