Send us a text In this podcast Pastor Chad & Sadie Smith interview Founder and Executive Director Rachel Russo about how Vault Fostering Community was conceptualized and birthed. This is an amazing story about an amazing organization that started right here out of FBC Boerne. Rachel has an incredible story of foster and adopting her own children! Enjoy this great discussion about calling, faithfulness, and obedience as a follower of Christ! https://vaultfosteringcommunity.org/ Excerpt from Vault website: Vault Fostering Community was developed in January 2014 by two friends over a cup of coffee. We began to dream about the resources we could provide to families and if we could alleviate even a small amount of chaos to local foster families…then maybe more people would be inclined to open their homes. Our mission became to provide support for local foster families as they meet the need of foster children. We desired to help ease the burden by collecting necessities for families receiving placements with short notice. As we began to collect, sort and distribute items our passion grew for the greater needs that these families may encounter. When we stepped in and took a closer look, we saw people excited to change the life of a child, even if just for a short time. We cannot all be foster parents, but we can all be a part of ending the orphan crisis in some way.…
Send us a text FBC is blessed to have a long tradition of supporting missions and missionaries directly. Even so it is an uncommon opportunity to mobilize a family that has lived among us for the better part of the last decade. This family attended our church for several years, felt the call of God to forsake the American Dream and move their family of 5 across the world to serve an unreached people group in Kenya! After serving in Kenya for 2 1/2 years, they were blessed to return home to FBC to rest, recover, and refocus. The tribe they had been working with had be designated a reached tribe, capable of multiplying new disciples within their own culture. It was time for a new assignment! Over the last year this family has sought the Lord's leading as once again their own plans were put aside. Through much patience, prayer, and counsel the Lord opened up a new door. This was door opened to the desire of their hearts. They would move to a new part of Africa, to work among another unreached people group. This podcast is the first part of our two part interview of this amazing couple. They share about their faith heritage and how God prepared them for each other, for their family, and for their full time calling to global missions among the unreached! Enjoy!…

Send us a text Pastor Chad and a small team traveled to the Southern-Most state of Mexico called Chiapas. Chiapas and its neighboring state of Oaxaca represent North America's highest concentration of unreached and least reached people groups. Sadie & Chad discuss the work to take the gospel to the unreached, the challenges faced in areas where infrastructure is limited; the work to empower the local believers to carry on the work with confidence and authority. Send us a text Special Needs Ministries in churches are still very rare but so, so needed! FBC has been blessed to have a group of highly invested Mothers and families working to meet this underserved need. For close to 20 years, FBC has provided a class for special needs individuals to have specialized focus and care. This ministry has given a safe space for these precious individuals and allowed their families to worship with peace of mind and heart. This ministry, called Side by Side, took a major new step this last spring by hosting FBC's first Starlight Ball. It was a prom for special needs guests! The event was unbelievable, as close to 70 guests attended. Each guest was paired with a buddy throughout the night. The boys had their shoes shined, and the girls had a special room for hair and makeup. There was a limo ride, and even the San Antonio Spurs Coyote Mascot made an appearance. Watch the video recap here: https://youtu.be/bBl3KXbHzvo Below is an email that was sent by a parent: Kudos to you guys; you made their night. My girls felt beautiful; my boys were so proud. I could feel God's smile as I sat there and watched them put their crowns on. You all accepted this creation with love. What we do unto the least of these- we have done unto Him. Please tell your team how much they meant to the kids, the parents, and their teachers. My personal child and my students were there - and I spoke with more than one parent in tears. You gave them crowns and ministered to their emotions and their souls. I left without words to express what a fabulous job you all did. Giving them crowns so that one day, they can lay at the feet of Jesus - so beautiful!…

Send us a text On today's podcast, we discuss Human Dignity. One of the primary accusations of global missions from the secular world is the "destruction of indigenous cultures." The accusations typically cite unforeseen damages done to indigenous communities because of the lack of care by well-intended missionaries. In this podcast, we discuss the challenge presented to Western Missionaries who mean to help but sometimes inadvertently create additional pain and suffering among the recipients of their goodwill. We will discuss concepts of Human Dignity and being made in the likeness of God. We will mention a few resources such as the book, "When Helping Hurts." By Brian Fikkert and Steve Corbett. When we feel called to help those who are in poverty and need, we must be careful to help them without causing additional pain through dependency.…

This Episode will talk through the simple strategy and give a few biblical examples of this strategy in practice.
