As high achieving women in business and motherhood, we (usually) have high expectations of what we can get done in a day, or even how much we can accomplish in an hour. This is often the root where calendar planning falls apart. What do you do when you planned to do something for an hour but it’s taking you much longer to do it? How do you get back on track with the rest of your day when this ONE task throws off the whole day…

First off, Kaci and I (Veronica) wanna say that we have both been there. Calendar planning is a skill that takes some trial and error. AND we want to let you know four things we WISH someone would’ve told us when we started our journey to hopefully help you along the way. We think you’ll really like this one!

Main topics covered in this episode:

  • Point 1: Realizing that goals and tasks (or outcomes and action steps) are different.
  • One is long term, one is daily… focus your energy on the daily tasks to get to where you want to go in the long term (your goals and outcomes) and celebrate your progress along the way.

  • Point 2: Your family DOES belong on your calendar and so do you!
  • We know that you have a lot to juggle, and make sure to put EVERYTHING on your calendar (from time spent with your kids, to activities, to date nights) so that you know exactly how much time you can devote to your business.
  • Before you do this, make sure you define what being a good mom, business owner, and spouse, and all of your other titles mean to you… once you know that you can make that your goal (long term) and focus on creating time for each thing each day (action step)

  • Point 3: scheduling for fulfillment vs productivity
  • Understand what is TRULY important to you… not what you think someone else told you to prioritize but what truly is your goal here? Define it so that you can work towards it!
  • Then make sure it aligns with your values, boundaries, and beliefs. When you KNOW that you KNOW everything in your calendar aligns with these things… you will feel fulfilled at the end of the day.

  • Point 4: Going from all or nothing to slow and steady wins the race.
  • Somewhere along the way on our journeys to adulthood we lost site of how to truly succeed. It was never an overnight thing. We were taught at a young age that things take time, we have to get back to this idea if we are going to see progress.
  • And it’s okay if you’re not good at something right way (yes, even calendar planning) if you are always good at what you do, you aren’t growing, so take those challenges head on! You CAN do hard things.
