To walk on the path of devotion, we have to be willing to place our ego before the Guru. Whilst surrendering to the Guru, it doesn't matter what task you are told to carry out, but it's following the Guru with full faith that will start to break down that wall of ego. The Guru is taking us back to our true nature which is love and bliss. When we start living from that nature, whatever action we perform in this world will be filled with love and compassion.
