I had my talk story with Scott Head, VP Waikoloa Beach Resort at the
2019 HHSAA (Hawaii High School Athletic Association) Boys Golf Championship. Waikoloa Beach Resort was host to the 36 hole championship played at Waikoloa Beach Resort Kings' Course on the Big Island of Hawaii.
The HHSAA is sponsored by David S. Ishii Foundation. Scott talks about the impact David, who Scott calls the best player to ever come out of Hawaii has made for high school players with his support. Scott also shares the commitment by Waikoloa Beach Resort to host junior, high school, college and professional tournaments.
Waikoloa Beach Resort is a planned community and I have worked with them for a long time. I have admired how they have evolved gracefully during the ever present development on the Big Island. The Queens Marketplace and Kings' Shop serving locals and visitors everyday with great stores, restaurants and Hawaiiana entertainment and cultural events. Scott and I talk about how the hotels, condos, time shares, beaches, golf courses, hiking trails are there for all of us to enjoy. I sure do.
On another note. Nice touch with David Ishii who is in the photo with Scott being on hand for the tournament. David, and his wife Lorraine and son presented the awards. Mid Pac's Jake Sequin won the individual state title and my friend Ethan Jaehn, a freshman playing for Coach Lee Kakawa at Kealakehe was third overall and low Big Island player. He edged out 5th place finisher from Kamehameha-Hawaii senior Pono Yanagi, the BIIF champion, by a stroke for top Big Islander honors. Hawaii Baptist won the team title with a 42-over 618. Second place was Mid Pacific (652). Iolani was third (655) and Waiakea (657) was close behind in fourth
