Robbie Gaspar joins Penny Tanner Hoath this week in the studio in the lead up to the Olympics and the wash of the Euro 2024. Radio Fremantle raised thousands in our Radiothon last week, so thank you! Gareth Morgan, Media Manager, Perth Glory. How are Glory faring in the local NPL competition, is the A League squad finalised, Glory’s first hit out with their new look squad v Armadale was a success. Glory play Brisbane next week in the upcoming Australia Cup round in Darwin.
What’s happening in the Glory women’s space regards coach and player appointments?
Neil Bennett, Sportswriter. Women’s NPL. Where is it currently sitting in the scheme of the Australian NPL landscape and is it growing in stature, is the community getting on board, is it a good space for fostering and producing state representatives and national level players and bringing the best out of a healthy growth in junior football post WWC? What are the indicators it is a healthy development league sitting at a good semi-professional level. Why is there such huge player movement each year between teams and out of WA?
Erin Clout, PFA Head of Player Relations - Women. The role the PFA plays in management and growth of A-League W and the Matildas.
Morgan Aquino. The Perth Glory goalkeeper has recently secured a contract at DC Power in the USA and tells us how that came about, why she chose the USA as the next step in her career, where the league sits in the football landscape, what learnings she takes with her from Perth Glory.
Jae Pettitt. One of our very own Western Australian Matildas from the 1970’s. Jae tells us about some of the early tournaments and characters in those pioneering days as a Matilda. You may have seen this highly decorated West Australian on the TV promoting the Matildas pre WWC and again in the midst of the 1975 debate. The Olympics is nigh, and we talk up Australia’s chances against group opponents Germany (FIFA rank 4), Zambia and the USA (FIFA rank 5), the lead up to the Tournament and the player movements in and out of the squad that will impact on Australia’s chances.
