#15 – Kevin Korb: I Bought a Club
Manage episode 187965904 series 1565409
It is the dream of table tennis players the world over to own their own full-time club – a facility they can call home, do whatever they like with, and build into a superclub. I know I’d love to have my own club one day.
Well, one man who has done just that is 19-year-old Kevin Korb from California, who is the new owner of The TopSpin a full-time, 16-table facility in the Bay Area. That’s right… He’s only 19! Kevin has actually taken a year out of studying at USC in order to concentrate fully on building up the club. I decided I needed to get Kevin on the show and find out a little more about how he became surely the youngest table tennis club owner in the world.
In this episode, you will learn all about Kevin’s background and how he first got involved with The TopSpin. Kevin also has a great story to tell as a successful “late-starter” to the sport of table tennis. Despite only beginning to play competitively at college Kevin has quickly risen up the USATT ratings, even breaking the 2000 mark.
In this episode you’ll learn:
- More about Kevin’s club The TopSpin.
- Kevin’s vision for bringing table tennis to the masses.
- What life will be like for Kevin during the next 12 months.
- How Kevin first became involved in table tennis.
- Why Kevin became table tennis obsessed at college.
- How he transformed himself from a hobby player to a 2000+ rating.
- What helped him to improve his technique and performance.
- Kevin’s future goals for his table tennis.
- How to follow in Kevin’s footsteps and thrive as a late-starter.
