In this episode, your host Amy Milne gets real with Ryan Baillie, Associate Vice President at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. They kick things off by reminiscing about when Amy hired Ryan onto the CauseForce team where they became pioneers of the new way to do peer-to-peer fundraising in Canada. Using this repeatable peer-to-peer fundraising formula, Ryan went on to become a fundraising event rockstar at a number of organizations including SickKids, Canadian Cancer Society and Hockey Helps the Homeless. A big key to his success? Always putting the people first. Whether it's an event participant, a volunteer, a major donor or a third-party event organizer, it is crucial to put your people at the centre of your decision-making and build relationships that are truly supportive rather than transactional.
Ryan's extensive experience and willingness to be a life-long learner have taught him so much and now he's sharing his wisdom with us. So many takeaways, including a hot tip for our leaders out there: you don't need to know everything. Ryan likes to describe himself as an event fundraising professional, but after hearing this episode, you'll come to realize that he's so much more than that! Want to reach out to Ryan directly? Hit him up on LinkedIn.

“If we take care of the people, the people are ultimately gonna take care of us, and they're gonna continue to show up.” – Ryan Baillie
