Big Problems Need Big Solutions: Finding the Courage to Take Risks and Make a Bigger Impact
Manage episode 371188955 series 3441570
In this episode, your host Amy Milne gets real with Michael Braithwaite, CEO of Blue Door, a non-profit that provides lifesaving support to children, youth, men, women, and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Michael's career and passion for the non-profit sector began at age 12 when he was voluntold by his mom to volunteer at the YMCA for the summer. That kicked off a 20+ year career with the YMCA which led to an Executive Director position at 360°kids (formerly known as Pathways) and a CEO role at Raising the Roof. Michael chats with Amy about Construct, an inspiring social enterprise that not only builds affordable housing but also launches people into the trades. His enthusiasm is contagious and we love that he's not afraid of innovation or to take risks in order to try to have the biggest impact. And when it comes to fundraising, he reminds us how important it is to listen and find the right opportunity for the right donor. Michael is as down-to-earth as they come and an all-around good human. We loved this episode and we know you will too!

“Fundraising is making it easy for people to digest and understand. Give me a cool story to tell and we’ll find money for it.” – Michael Braithwaite
