Radio Danya is a podcast devoted to promoting and showcasing St. Louis talent, past and present. You will hear the background and music of featured artists, learn about upcoming shows, tours, and album releases, and gain a deeper appreciation for the genuine skill and talent that comes out of this city. A little about me: I started my work in music in 1999 when I was the intern on the Rock and Roll morning show on 97FM The Rock with Randy Raley and Mike Doran. From there, I piggy-backed radio jobs with our sister station, 105.7 The Point, working on both stations as an on air talent. After Sinclair Broadcasting Corp. was purchased by Emmis Communications, The Rock was no longer, but fortunately, The Point carried on. Eventually, I would again piggy-back jobs between The Point and 104.1 The Mall. I took a brief break from radio to pursue a college degree in social work. I received my BS from SIUE and my MSW from SLU. I returned to work at 101.1 The River until the format changed to Movin' 101. I was forced to take a break at that time and it couldn't have happened at a better time as I was pregnant with my first daughter, Camryn. I was now working in the Granite City School District as a school social worker - which is where I am currently employed, had another daughter named Kyleigh in 2011, and was asked to come back to work in radio in the beginning of 2012 for CBS Radio, St. Louis at Y98. I am still a weekend and fill in talent for Y98 and absolutely love my job. As a huge fan of music in general, as most of us are, I felt that the St. Louis music scene doesn't receive the proper credit that it deserves in terms of the talent that comes out of this city. Therefore, I am taking it upon myself (along with the help of my musician husband Brian, friend and local musician Doug Byrkit of Odds Lane [and too many other bands to name], and audio engineer and producer Sam Maul) to do my part to show St. Louis some love.

As soon as Unifyah caught their breath after winning the 105.7 The Point Battle at Busch 2015, we ushered them to the side to talk music, politics (Get Off My Lawn Party), and a lot of nonsense. Congrats to the guys for yet another Battle at Busch win. Connect with them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Unifyah/ and then go see a live show. Or don't, if you hate fun. strangefolk2015artscraftsculturefooddrinkstlouisdiy…
We met up with Autumn Wiggins, creator, owner and operator of the venerable Strange Folk Festival, to talk about the history of the festival, what's new this year (for instance, it's in Union Station...like, the WHOLE Union Station), what it takes to protect your well-deserved intellectual property, and the concept of "whimsy". The festival is next weekend, 9/26/15 10 am - 8 pm & 9/27/15 10 am - 5 pm. Attendance is free, and you can find out more at www.StrangeFolkFestival.com and the Facebook event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/699657093472203/ .…
