Bitwise's Bradley Duke on Bitcoin and gold at new all-time highs

Bitwise Asset Management European Head Bradley Duke talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the recent surge in Bitcoin and gold prices, as well as the growing institutional adoption of crypto assets. Duke discussed the performance of Bitwise’s BTCG product, which blends Bitcoin and gold in a monthly rebalancing strategy. “The performance on that product has been phenomenal,” he said, noting the timing has proven to be advantageous with both assets reaching all-time highs. He highlighted seasonality in crypto markets and significant October gains for Bitcoin, stating it had already risen about 6% in the month. Institutional adoption remains a major theme, with Duke revealing that ETFs and treasury companies now hold around 12.5% of Bitcoin's circulating supply. Furthermore, these entities have purchased more than six times the new Bitcoin supply generated in 2025 so far. Duke attributed some of the recent price action to what he termed the "debasement trade", where investors seek protection from fiat currency dilution by turning to store-of-value assets like Bitcoin and gold. He also gave insights from the US, where changes to ETF listing standards could broaden access to a wider range of crypto ETFs. However, government shutdowns have slowed regulatory processes.
