Not long ago, friend of the show, Candra Schank, showed Sophia a local photographer's Facebook account which seemed to be blowing up. Candra thought something was amiss about it... and there was. This photographer had way paying for Facebook likes. And not only that, but engagement on her posts. Each post had the exact same number of likes, the exact same number of shares, and the exact same number comments from the exact same people. We have a problem with this! Because this means that this photographer is getting absolutely no engagement from real life people; her target market! Here is a very quick outline of how the Facebook algorithm works: When a a real-life Facebook user engages with your content he or she will start seeing more of it because, presumably, they like what you're putting out in the world. Not only that, but Facebook will start serving your content to more users like that person. However, if your content gets no engagement (or in this case, no real engagement), then your content will be shown to fewer users. Listen to this episode and don't let yourself fall into the trap of purchasing social media likes or engagements! - Join the conversation on Facebook at http://doubleexposure.show/facebook - Thanks to Benjamin Edward for our artwork and Bensound for our theme music.
