Kevin keeps the conversation in the realms more familiar to most of us; citing his early development was more about having the freedom to explore learning how to do things on his own. Curiosity was his companion.
It wasn't until he was an adult that he was able to put the pieces together and apply his passion toward empowered leadership and organizational behavior. He shares many tasty tidbits in this conversation.
Stating he was a difficult child as a youth, wanting to understand the 'why' of things, he sought closure through inquiry. A curious advantage, Kevin mentions his father was in the military and they moved a lot, so he had to figure out each new environment they encountered. His confidence grew.
He landed in organizational behavior studies with the help of a mentor who asked him questions about his likes and passions and point him in a possible direction. The conversation led to organizational behavior, a rather new field at the time. He got hooked and loved the study of how people worked together better through leadership and structure.
How do you empower individuals and organizations to increase production through effective leadership and support? Details are many, yet Kevin reveals micromanagement is a major bottleneck, even with the knowledge of leadership best practices. The sense of losing control impedes progress. Kevin shares some ways through that process.
We explore the goings on with the shift in the workplace activity; remote vs office and increased activity in entrepreneurial and small business development in response to what is being called the 'great resignation' by some, the 'great reset' by others and the 'great weset' by some.
A new kind of business model is still in flux and Kevin predicts the increase in hybrid work situations that will offer the greatest challenges in the near future. He feels in any situation that good leaders will empower their people by example and through support. What are your thoughts?
