Specifically, Lafarge has started to install under-guards on its Canadian ready mix trucks to help prevent serious incidents with pedestrians and cyclists. This is a strategy that has been successfully adopted in other parts of the world. Lafarge is also implementing an in-vehicle monitoring system (IVMS) to help the company understand root causes of incidents such as hard braking and cornering, as well as to assist drivers with blind spots.
