NC House Speaker embarrasses with appearance on Bannon program

The spectacle of important elected officials sucking up shamelessly to Donald Trump continues to afflict American politics.

And North Carolina House Speaker and Congressman-elect Tim Moore may have taken things to a new low last week.

On the same day the state House approved a massive power grab law that further rigs elections and overrules the will of voters by seizing numerous duties from officials they just elected, Moore made a cringe-inducing appearance on an online show hosted by the disgraced extremist and Trump sycophant, Steve Bannon.

Once there, he bragged to Bannon that the purpose of the new law was quote “making sure North Carolina continues to be able to do what it can to deliver victories for Republicans up and down the ticket.”

And it’s hard to know what’s more disturbing – that Moore would make such a public admission or that he would appear with a frightening and disturbed character like Bannon in the first place.

The bottom line: Whatever his motivations, Speaker Moore’s actions sullied his high office and were an embarrassment to North Carolina.
