German Description (English below)
Gast: Ulrich Rudolph
Was ist Liebe?

English Description
Guest: Ulrich Rudolph

What is love? Together with Ulrich Rudolph we dedicate ourselves to the classic about love by Ibn Hazm and thus to a side of life that has inspired the poetry of the world like no other.
Ibn Hazm's work is a learned text, a mirror of experience, a commentary and a poetic work all in one. Probably written in captivity, the author turns to a subject of better times. But love, who would not know, is also a place of projections, longings, hopes and disappointments. The work is astonishingly modern and thrives on Ibn Hazm's keen powers of observation.
You can find the German and the English transcript on our homepage: www.metis.ethz.ch. There we also provide further material on the topic.
