#242 CIRITH UNGOL - INSIDE THE METAL

Metal Nerdery Podcast

Although they formed in Ventura, California in the early 70’s just a few short years after Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, CIRITH UNGOL (which, if you know anything about J.R.R. Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings lore, translates to mean “Spider’s Cleft”) sound like a band “out of time”. Whether they’re releasing 70’s sounding albums in the 80’s or releasing 80’s sounding albums in the 90’s, it should be noted that CIRITH UNGOL are one of the first ever doom metal bands, with a sound containing a unique blend of both doom and power metal elements, as well as hints of classic Priest & Sabbath.

Discover the real difference between “LPs and EPs” and try to comprehend why EPs are actually “shorter” even though they sound like they’d be “longer”. Understand the reason “you’ve got to get your vasectomies early (and often)” and just know that “you’re not gonna make it better” talking about “roast beef sandwiches” unless you “pull out a pack of Arby’s sauce” and JOIN US as we go INSIDE THE METAL with the decade defying, anachronistic anomaly of doom and power metal that could only be known as CIRITH UNGOL.
