We find ourselves in this strange reality where everyone is a stock picking “expert”......or so it seems. In this episode, host Travis Shelton attempts to shine a light on the real truth about picking stocks. Are people really this good, or would they be just as good (or better) by picking stocks at random? Let’s find out! This episode includes an appearance by Meaning Over Money co-founder Cole Netten, where he shows off his investing chops. This episode (and our little science experiment) may surprise you!!
If you want to try our little experiment for yourself, here's a list of the S&P 500 stocks we used: https://www.slickcharts.com/sp500. Then, go to your favorite stock app/website and find the "1-year" data for each of your picks. 3-year and 5-year data can be fun as well. Add up the percentage gain for each of your picks, divide by the number of picks you had, a there you have it! That would be your result.
