#178 On Grief- Our Collective Sorrow
Manage episode 449564404 series 1003210
I have been sharing my feelings on grief on my social media pages for the past few days.
Someone lost a friend, a mentor, a family member due to their views and values. We as a nation are narrowing our focuses to those who align with our viewpoints, and it creates such a grief and separation within the soul.
It is natural to do so, and to take comfort in what you can understand. It can be hard to listen and learn without judgement. In this episode I speak on what grief really means, and how we can use that knowledge to keep our lights on.
Keep them on for ourselves, for one another, for the world. It is hard work to keep going. To continue to be open to learning. To sit with hard things, yet we must in order to maintain that connection, that soul alignment, that LIGHT shining.
The second episode I speak on nourishment and how to take it during these times. How to identify what fills you up when things feel confusing, and why it is is so important to do so. I speak on the power of play to bring us into presence and why presence is a practice to cultivate in this time.
The third speaks on Mindful Movement for medicine for the soul. I have recorded two grounding meditations and a mindful movement class in my free Supportive Mindfulness Community and they are on replay, should you feel called to tune in.
Take care of yourselves.
Remember that you cannot control an outcome, but you can soothe your emotional state by mindfully checking in with yourself and then choosing to engage in activities that regulate your nervous system and bring you back into balance.
Meditation.
A walk in nature.
Somatic movement. ( For me dancing or intuitively moving the body with eyes closed)
Self massage.
A bath.
A yoga practice.
Reading a book.
Nourishing food and water.
Deep grounded breathing. ( Lying on the floor and focusing on breathing from your belly.)
Cuddle an animal, baby or stuffed animal if you don’t have one
A favorite mantra of mine-
“I surrender what I cannot control. I am grateful for all that I have. I breathe in love, I breathe out peace.”
What brings you nourishment during this time?
