'Grandparents for the Climate' - celebrate 10 years
Manage episode 450128853 series 3381982
The association 'Grands-parents pour le Climat' was created by seniors who are speaking out and taking action in the face of climate change, which threatens to jeopardize the future of their descendants.
It aims to foster positive and constructive intergenerational dialogue, but also to establish cooperation with the political world.
The association is made up of cantonal sections and regional groups, first in French-speaking Switzerland and now also in German-speaking Switzerland. It benefits from the scientific contribution of its dedicated committee, which includes personalities such as Jacques Dubochet, Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, as well as from diverse and varied skills, both on the technical and political levels.
It warns of the inadequacies of climate policies, advises, informs and sets up events around themes (healthy eating, sustainability, digital development, etc.) contributing to the ecological and sustainable evolution of the planet.
Co-President Jean-Yves Pidoux joined WRS Breakfast Show's Katt Cullen to talk about their activities and and how they get involved in the fight to protect the climate!! He tells WRS "Of course, we are kind of privileged boomers. That's true. Of course. We have benefited from the worst part of the over-use of resources from the planet....", but he explains how he and the rest of the Grandparents for the Climate are standing up for change and promoting inter-generational dialogue, and using their professional networks, life experience and free time for good, organising awareness campaigns, outreach and attending demonstrations.

'Grand-parents pour le Climat' committee: Jacqueline Lecocq, Martin Bettler, René Jaccard, Laurence Martin, Eva Affolter-Svenonius, Jean-Luc Gérard & Jean-Yves Pidoux
