With a vision to build the safest, most consistently effective and appealing solution to the epidemic of chronic pain, Brendon Lundberg co-founded Radiant Pain Relief Centres. He combines his mission to change the way chronic pain is treated with deep experience in healthcare management, marketing, business development and sales.

Prior to opening the first center in 2014, Brendon played key operational and business development roles for two Portland-Area Portland Business Journal and Inc. Magazine Growth Award-winning companies, and was the Director of Sales and Marketing for another Portland-based medical device start-up. Brendon holds a BS in business marketing and an MBA.

Radiant Pain Relief Centres offer a unique and progressive treatment for chronic pain, which helps retrain the brain and restore it back to a more normal, healthy perception of pain. They have treated hundreds of patients with nearly every type of chronic pain imaginable. On average, their patients experience an 84% reduction in pain, and more than 90% of their patients conclude therapy with a pain score of zero or near zero.

In today’s conversation with us, Brendon explains the science behind their methodology, how and why it works, and the impact it has had on their patients’ quality of life. We also explore how they are raising money to fund their initiative, how they gain alignment with key healthcare professionals, and what to expect when you set about disrupting an industry – all very important aspects to understand when doing something that has never been done before.

Key Takeaways

  1. Pain is a common experience that we’ve all had at some point in our lives.
  2. Globally, there are more people suffering with chronic pain than cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease combined. In the U.S. alone there are 100 million people suffering with chronic pain.
  3. All pain is neurogenic – meaning that it comes from the brain’s nervous system. It’s a protective phenomenon, particularly in the short term, letting you know something is wrong. Chronic pain is when the brain becomes wired to expect and perpetuate the pain experience.
  4. Most healthcare professionals are trained in pain science that was published in the 1960s.
  5. The body is a remarkably effective healing machine, providing we allow it to do its job.
  6. The key to business scalability is systems, the willingness to take risks, and building a great team.
  7. It is a lonely hard process to be the first person changing an industry.
  8. Creating a movement requires being comfortable with being uncomfortable.
  9. You’ll be rejected far more than you’ll be accepted, maybe for a long time. Eventually though if you stay consistent, people will begin to see that you haven’t given up, that you still believe in it, and start to pay attention.
  10. One of the biggest keys to creating a movement is creating alignment vs friction.
