17:22GUEST - Loyiso Boyce – MD of Clyrofor Swiping bank cards at toll gates is being phased out due to fraud, while a major toll road operator has also banned all debit card payments. On Monday, Nedbank confirmed its debit cards have been barred from offline swipe transactions at toll gates, which it said would help protect clients against fraudulent activity. Swipe card transactions are more dangerous than tap payments. Illegal devices can be installed inside point-of-sale terminals that capture information from a card's magnetic strip. Debit cards also allow for offline transactions, with transaction billing taking place later. But with offline transactions, there is no real-time verification and authorisation, which is exploited by fraudsters. Kaya FM…

10:06GUEST - Peter Major, a director a Mining at Modern Corporate Solutions We dive into the surprising factors driving the decline in platinum jewellery demand. A new report from the World Platinum Investment Council reveals how falling marriage rates across the globe, from the US to China, have contributed to a sharp downturn in platinum’s role in the jewellery market. As societal pressures to marry ease and consumer preferences shift toward experiences over material goods, platinum jewellery has taken a hit. But there’s hope on the horizon. We explore how rising gold prices, new technologies in production, and a shift in demand from non-Chinese markets are set to boost platinum’s jewellery appeal.
