Hilo Coffee founder and sustainability manager Martín Rojas Arboleda joins Matthew in the studio to discuss a radical new approach to sustainability by re-envisioning an industry very close to many of our hearts, COFFEE!

The coffee industry is precarious. In the conventional coffee trading system, the middleman makes money, while coffee farmers fear for their existence all year round. They have to work long and hard every day and are most directly affected by factors such as economic instability, exploitation and the unpredictable effects of climate change. In addition, they have no choice but to live on loans and credits as they are paid only once a year after the harvest.

Hilo is an alternative system to the conventional coffee trade. By establishing a direct connection to small coffee farmers, we enable coffee lovers like you to make a difference and actively participate in a change towards sustainability.
