Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.

This week, we begin by discussing the Mets’ decimated bullpen due to Edwin Díaz’s suspension and injuries to Sean Reid-Foley and Drew Smith, who is likely heading for his second Tommy John surgery. The Mets have already made some moves to help alleviate this, like sending Tylor Megill down in favor of Christian Scott and bringing back José Buttó in a relief role, but they are going to need to ride this out for the time being and address it at the trading deadline if they can hope to stay in the playoff race.

CONTENT WARNING: The second half of this week’s show contains a discussion of rape and child molestation, as we cover the allegations that were recently made against Detroit Tigers broadcaster Craig Monroe.
