La artista estadounidense Joan Jonas (Nueva York, 1936), pionera en la práctica de la performance, el cine experimental y la vídeo-instalación, es la protagonista de la exposición Joan Jonas: caudal o río, vuelo o ruta, que acoge la sala de exposiciones de la Fundación Botín en Santander del 25 de junio al 31 de diciembre de 2016. La muestra ha sido comisariada por Benjamin Weil, Director artístico del Centro Botín.
La creadora estadounidense presenta una nueva instalación multimedia, concebida específicamente para su exhibición en la Fundación Botín, que lleva a cabo en colaboración con quince jóvenes artistas internacionales, seleccionados por la propia Joan Jonas para participar en el Taller de Artes Plásticas de Villa Iris, que tiene lugar del 6 al 24 de junio de 2016.
Un trabajo en el que la artista profundiza en su investigación sobre la compleja relación del ser humano con la naturaleza y el medio ambiente, un tema que ha sido una preocupación constante a lo largo de su trayectoria.

The pioneering practice of Joan Jonas (New York, 1936) across performance, experimental film and video-installation is showcased in Joan Jonas: stream or river, flight or pattern, an exhibition at Fundación Botín from 25 June to 31 December 2016, organized by Benjamin Weil, artistic director of Centro Botín.
At the core of the exhibition is a new multimedia installation that is produced on site, in collaboration with a roster of fifteen international young artists Joan Jonas has selected to participate in the three-week workshop at Fundación Botín"s Villa Iris - from 6 to 24 June 2016. In this new work, she explores the complex relationship of human beings with nature and the environment, a constant concern throughout her long-standing practice.
