1. Where is the Davidic king after the exile?

In the history of ancient Israel there was growing expectation of one particular messiah among many people that he was the one that God had spoken of this new Davidic king who would come. It is that fulfillment we find in JC. JC is the anointed king to rule over His people in justice to save them from sin and the powers of evil and lead us to everlasting life. JC is THE Christ. All of us have a small anointing in JC because we are baptized in Him and Confirmed anointed in fact with the oil Chrism in the name of God. We are marked with God’s blessing for the task of being His people and His witnesses in the world

Isaiah in rich and evocative language points ahead to JC by their words

JC is The Good Shepherd: God and the New David in One

Saw in all three of the major prophets the issue of shepherdsBad shepherds, priest, kings, other leaders, who were leading the people astray, abusing the people, not caring for them, living off the fat of the flock instead of nourishing the flock so they could mature & grow

Not loving the flock but using them

God consistently says He will be their shepherd, God will care for the least of them, God will bring back the strays, goes to Capernaum, bring back lost tribes of Israel

Prophecies of the New Davidic King, the Messiah, would be the shepherd, he would lead them, he would rule over them in righteousness,

Completely strict, reading this and wondering what could be prophesized, might have tension, will it be God or the human Davidic descended from David.

By the miracle and mystery of the Incarnation it’s both. Hypostatic union. Divine Person God- Man.

Jn 10 a hireling, JC says, set over the people/ flock but not actually the hireling’s, run away save their own hide, care for the sheep for another reward, not the flock itself. Even good ones

JC says I’m not going anywhere, Good Shepherd lays down life for the sheep.
