Mama's Tan Garage in the Clouds
Manage episode 373776852 series 3420706
In this episode, Kevin explains the market but questions his neighbors and Hartley shares an analogy for one of the Sistine Chapel's frescoes.
Show Notes:
- Kevin explains what is meant by 'the market,' helping us as investors understand how performance-tracking indexes like the S&P 500, Russell 1000, and Vanguard effect our personal trading analysis. He also unscrambles some trading jargon for us: not the more oft-confusing language such as Blue Chip, Bonds, Compounding Returns, Index, Buybacks and Splits; not the more important abbreviations of FA, MM, BBO, DB, SL, TBT or TRIPS; but the highly critical, most challenging mumbo jumbo of new acronyms each new market or economic cycle seems to generate—and Kevin introduces his (what is bound to become the) acronym-of-the-decade!
- Hartley follows up his discussion of desire with the encouragement to consider how much of God we actually want to embrace, helping us evaluate our answer through an illustrative look from a work of Michelangelo.
- According to StorageCafe analysis of online survey data in 2021:
- Almost 40% of Americans rent self storage.
- Three-member households (46%) are the most likely to rent a storage unit, followed by two-member ones (43%). Thirty-four percent (34%) of single-member households declare themselves to be self storage users.
- Gen Xers (54%) are the most likely generation to be self storage users, followed closely by baby boomers (51%).
- Missouri — where the home offices and recording studio of Faith, Finances and F*Bombs are located — does not rank in the "Top 10 States by Self-Storage Usage." (Probably because Missourians, evidently, store things in their home's garage.)
- Kevin suggests Hartley could have a "fifth one," referring to podcasts, in response to Hartley's improvised title for trading post items. If you are confused why three additional podcasts are inferred, listen to the bonus episode.
