Carlton has worked with most nations’ specialist police, secret intelligence and national security agencies and military special-forces. Hence, Carlton's operations have spanned the Cold War, the IRA years, the wars in the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, the covert war on terror and the struggles against extreme left-wing, extreme right-wing, activist Animal Liberation and subversive public disorder operations in London, the UK and beyond.
For several years Carlton was a highly successful MI6 counter-terrorism case officer. Case Officers are the top quarter of MI6 officers who, for want of a better description, perform the real life James Bond role.
