Who is André Stander? For much of his life, Stander was an unassuming citizen who nonetheless rose to the rank of Captain in the South African Police during the era of apartheid. As the folk legend usually goes, he grew disillusioned with this racist regime and began robbing banks as a way to stick it to the system. But was he actually a freedom fighter who realized he was part of the problem, or was he just a bored nepo baby who felt like robbing some banks?
