Moses received the Ten Commandments a long time ago. By the time Jesus comes into the picture, the Law had been used for centuries to hold power over people. This is not what God intended, and Jesus made this known repeatedly in his ministry. Jesus summed up the Law, all 613 commandments, to two; love the Lord your God with all your mind, heart, strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.
