In Rugby Union: The World Rugby Awards 2024 to be handed out in November in the following categories for 7s rugby:
· World Rugby Men’s 7s Dream Team of the Year in partnership with HSBC:
· World Rugby Men’s 7s Player of the Year – our tip - Antoine Dupont?
· Women’s 7s Dream Team of the Year
· Women’s 7s Player of the Year – we tip Portia Woodman-Wickliffe?
· World Rugby Coach of the Year XVs or 7s – Rassie of course.
In Rugby League: The Bulldogs have reportedly moved to terminate the contract of Josh Addo-Carr after instructing the star to front the Board next week.
The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting Addo-Carr faces the sack over his drug scandal that saw him suspended for the Club’s first final in eight years, after testing positive to cocaine during a roadside drugs test last month.
In Football: Fenerbahce boss, Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands as his new side held his former Club, Man U 1-1 on Thursday to extend the English giants’ wait for a Europa League win.
United have drawn all three of their European games this season and a point does little to ease the pressure on under-fire Manager Erik10.
Man U is languishing in 21st spot of the 36-team table, with their chances of securing a Top 8 finish to progress directly to the last 16 - fading.
In UFC: Australian Robert Whittaker’s undefeated UFC rival, Khamzat Chimaev was the last fighter to make weight for Sunday’s UFC308 clash - a UFC title eliminator.
Officially, UFC308 weigh-in opened at 9am in Abu Dhabi yesterday, with all fighters told that they had two hours to make the weight.
While most fighters went within the first 30 minutes, Chimaev did not appear until there was only 13 minutes to spare.
But, with a wry smile, the Chechnyan strolled out, removed his shorts and weighed in bang on 84.4Kg.

In Sports Biz: Among the key indicators of the ticket market around the 2024 World Series, starting today at Dodger Stadium between the LA Dodgers and the New York Yankees:
· The average list price for this year’s games is US$3,887 according to ticket aggregator TicketIQ, the second-highest figure tracked for the World Series in the last 15 seasons.
· Demand for Games 1, 2, 6 and 7 at Dodger Stadium is robust, averaging US$3,146. But it’s even greater for Games 3–5 at Yankee Stadium, averaging US$4,875.
· Similarly, TickPick said the Yankees-Dodgers World Series is the second-most-expensive such event it has tracked with an overall average purchase price of US$1,663, 114% higher than the 2023 World Series @ US$776.
World Series ticket sales are already ahead of last year’s final results and 2024 is pacing at quadruple the level of 2022 at this point, before play has even started.
