Most of us like to think of energy in terms of a battery. When we use energy, our battery drains, when we plug it in our energy goes up. Using the analogy that energy is like money, energy used is in the form of debits, money is taken out of our energy account. Energy earned is in the form of credits, or money coming into the account. The reason why this analogy is used is because people have an emotional connection to money. So if you’re speaking of energy in terms of money, someone will be a bit more protective of it because to most people money is not something that is easily gained and it is a scarce commodity.
