Today their descendants are still known as the Freedmen, and many have seen their long historical ties to the Five Tribes being challenged, minimized, or severed.Last of the Dominickers, For nearly 200 years’ outsiders in Florida’s panhandle viewed suspiciously a group of people who didn’t fit the usual racial categories of the day, these insular, independent, and rugged families were called “Dominickers”, and said to be a mixture of black, white, and Indian. With the advent of DNA applications to genealogy we will end the new year by revisiting 2016 interviews and discussing new findings through the Facebook group Redbone & Melunegeon DNA Truthers Study group.
