In this episode: MGT is back in the news again, this time being mocked for suggesting solar and wind do not work after dark, segueing into the right's despair into electric vehicles becoming the future. Norway euthanizes 1,300lb "celebrity walrus" Freya, because people just could not stay away, and deemed her a threat to human safety. A Florida court rules that a 16 year old teen is not "mature enough" to have an abortion in another attempt to force births. After the FBI executed a search warrant at Mar-A-Lago, Trump is stoking the flames and angering supporters to drive substantial donations, cause violent threats towards FBI, and hoping for a civil war. There has been some rhetoric about not charging Trump because of the repercussions which we are fiercely against. By and large the right are only parroting talking head points from Fox News rather than researching the actual facts and law regarding his criminal actions regarding the classified materials. Rice University scientists reanimate dead spiders to function as robotic gripping claws...for some reason other than they can. More climate change news, with a Science.org article showing an adverse reaction to cleaner air. But Joe Manchin reverses course from our previous episode and strikes a deal with Schumer for a bill package that includes $369Bn for climate initiatives. In this week's episode: Two quick brief updates from previous episodes. A judge grants twitter an expedited 5 day trial against Elon Musk in October, and the abortion doctor in Indiana is taking steps to sue the AG of Indiana for defamatory statements. In our main story, Knoxville and surrounding areas experienced extreme weather, as well as the rest of the world as UN Secretary General says humanity is "facing a collective suicide over climate crisis". The House of Reps pass two bills attempting to codify them into law. The first being same sex, interracial, and inter-faith marriage, with 157 republicans voting against the bill. The second protecting the right to contraceptives, with all but 10 republicans voting against the measure. When there's a mass shooting in Indiana, the conversation shifts from 'thoughts and prayers' to solely praising a 'good guy with a gun' because it finally fits their narrative and going so far as to even praise their god for it. Lastly, another round of multiple ACAB of the week stories with some of the most egregious behavior because cops "feared for their lives". Become a Patron and support the show! Josh Hawley is taken to task by law professor Khiara Bridges after a transphobic line of questioning. Early voting for the August election is going on now in Tennessee and we prep you on the anti-union amendment being introduced on the November ballot. KPD's new police chief Paul Noel seeks to break the "blue wall of silence" and train cops to intervene and report on the actions of other police.
