This Is Woman's Work with Nicole Kalil
Parenting comes with a lot of expectations, but have you ever stopped to ask where they come from? On this episode of This Is Woman’s Work , we unpack the myth of “the good mother” with Nancy Reddy , author of The Good Mother Myth . Nancy shares her personal experience of confronting the unrealistic ideal of motherhood: endlessly patient, always available, and completely selfless. She hilariously and heartbreakingly debunks these outdated ideals, rooted in flawed mid-20th-century research by figures like Harry Harlow and Dr. Spock. Nancy explains how bad science from the past continues to haunt modern parenting, creating pressure, guilt, and shame for today’s mothers. But this conversation is about more than debunking myths—it’s about empowerment. Because when you prioritize what matters and let go of perfectionism, you’re not just doing woman’s work—you’re modeling it. 48:08On this week’s episode we talk to Award Winning Cake Artist & Pastry Chef, Megan Aucone. We talk to Megan about everything from how she got into baking to her time on Food Network’s “Halloween Baking Championship” and Hulu’s “Cookie, Cupcake, Cake”. Her hyper realistic cakes (especially the gory ones!) have caught our eyes for years and we could not have been happier to see her on these shows letting everyone else see her talent. Megan also lets us know that she will be at the ihearthorror convention on Saturday February 1st! We can not wait to go see what she does next and to go visit her at Uncle Guiseppe’s Marketplace and try every one of her creations!! Instagram: @cinnabunbunn Message Megan for any questions or orders!…
On this week’s episode, we talk about our busy holiday week from Christmas Eve until New Years Day. It’s safe to say that we did more in one week than most people do in a year. From Hershey park and Lancaster to sesame place and six flags, we were all over the place! Our girls were delirious at times and so was Greg (especially when he threw powdered sugar all over himself!) but it was a week to remember. Especially since the girls (and Alex) lived out a dream to visit Bluey in her house which was somehow in New York City instead of Australia. We hope you all had a great holiday and a happy new year! (is it too late to say that?)…

Anything Goes With Greg & Alex
This week we finally let you all in on what we did for Alex’s birthday last month. We hopped on a plane and traveled to our favorite vacation destination, Walt Disney World. We talk about spending Thanksgiving there and how great it was doing all 4 parks (plus Disney springs) in one day, that day being Alex’s actual birthday. From our twin girl’s character meetings to lost groceries… we talk about it all! Including the flights there and back and the movie Greg was watching on the plane… on 2 TVs at the same time. Come celebrate (and hide from the massive crowds!) with us as we walk you down Main Street and give you insight into our trip.…
Happy New Year 2025! This week we talk about this past year in review. From starting the year talking about who Crazy Greg is and recapping seeing Story of the Year (not once but twice) to a softball championship, meeting Tom Brady, being on stage with Limp Bizkit and Greg live recording while being hospitalized. It’s definitely been some year and we had a good time reminiscing about (most of) it!!…

This week on our 2024 holiday edition of the Anything Goes Podcast, we head over to our favorite holiday walk through, The Village at Anne Ellen. A Christmas tree farm by day and a wonderful Christmas village by night, this amazing holiday walk through does not disappoint. From the tractor ride (NOT hay ride as said a bunch of times… forgive us we are still mentally at haunted houses) that brings you over to the Village where you will enjoy one of the most unique holiday experiences! Anne Ellen Website: https://www.anneellenfarms.com/…
In this week’s episode, we go to our favorite family farm, Oasis. Oasis family farm has transformed into Candy Lane Game! A one of a kind experience where you travel from holiday zone to holiday zone, finding all the clues and answering fun questions. From dancing in the snow with Olaf, to stepping into Santa’s Toy Workshop, this Candy Lane Game gave us all of the holiday feels! Even when Greg wanted so badly to walk through the haunted walk through, “The Woods Have Eyes”! Join along with us as we venture through this Candy Lane Game to solve the clues and meet the big red man himself, Santa!…

41:33Happy Birthday Alex! This week we let you in on all the things we have planned to do this holiday season. From some amazing outdoor Christmas walk throughs to our favorite holiday drive-thru. Let’s not forget (or maybe forget entirely) Greg’s “birthday rap” for Alex’s birthday this weekend. Let us know if there’s any other local places we should visit with the family and let Greg know what you thought of his very funny (and at some points very true) rap dedicated to Alex.…
This week we talk all about an amazing experience our family had at Color Me Mine in Tom’s River, New Jersey. This ceramic painting studio gives so many options for people of any age. We took our daughters to their “Paint Party” with Anna and Elsa! It’s safe to say our girls had the time of their lives being able to sing their favorite songs while painting the coolest Christmas tree nightlight and make a Frozen themed bracelet. Color Me Mine has so much to offer and we give you a little look into it all.…
This week we slowly make our transition from Halloween season to the holiday season as we talk all about our experience at this years Halloween House and the upcoming Christmas House. We walk you through each room Halloween House had (maybe not in perfect order) and give you which were our favorites and which things we would change in our latest “Keep it and Kill it” segment. From horror icons to a movie in the park, Halloween House is always something on our must do list each Halloween season.…

Happy Halloween Everyone!! This week we talk all about one of our absolute favorite Haunts, Brookdale Haunted Theater. We break down this year’s theme and some highlights of what we experienced. We also give you our Keep it and Kill it (even though this is always a hard one!) and tell you all about the dance party that broke out during our walkthrough. Which was fitting since we were spending Greg’s 40th birthday there! We hope you all enjoyed your Halloween as much as we enjoyed our time at Brookdale Haunted Theater!…

In Greg’s first episode in his 40s, we talk about our experience at The Conover Killings. We break it all down from the drive up into the parking lot (it makes sense once you listen) to the entire walk through. We give our keeps and kills and also text Rob from The Conover Killings mid-recording because Alex HAD to know the name of the wandering dog that hangs out with the customers. We give our love to Johnathan’s skill of being everywhere at once as well as the final actor in the haunt. Give this one a listen and then get over to The Conover Killings for their final weekend of the 2024 season! To reserve your time slot, call or text 757-817-2517 https://theconoverkillings.com/ (https://theconoverkillings.com/) https://www.instagram.com/theconoverkillings?igsh=MWRtbWhpa28xNjJobg== (https://www.instagram.com/theconoverkillings?igsh=MWRtbWhpa28xNjJobg==)…
First of all… Happy 40th Birthday Greg!! This week we talk all about our experience at Reapers Revenge. We took the trip there for their media event and got a behind the scenes tour of everything they have to offer plus some bonus information about future projects we can’t wait to see unfold! We break down all 5 attractions (soon to be 6!) and let you know which ones we absolutely loved.…
Welcome to a very unexpected episode of The Anything Goes Podcast with Greg and Alex live from… The Hospital. Greg finally ran himself down to the point of landing himself overnight in the hospital and as promised… we still deliver an episode every single week no matter what! Greg records live through his hospital stay and gives you up to date play by play action through his night of only sleeping 45 minutes. Did he get yelled at by the nurses? Did he make a friend or an enemy with his hospital roommate? Did he go for a haunted house walkthrough adventure at 3:45 AM? Did he get released in time to make it home for the Mets playoff game? Did Alex make a special appearance on this episode? Find out all of this and more on a very unplanned and unexpected episode.…

This week we talk about some random topics. From lots of sports news and opinions to Weird Al touring the country. Did you know that the Heinz ketchup you use at restaurants might be a fraud? Or that you can pay to meet Mr. And Mrs. Met at a Met game? (even though they are free to meet in the center field kids area during the game) Now grab your frosty and give this one a listen and see if you agree with our craziness!…
In this week’s episode, we are sick and tired of being sick and tired. Well, so sick in fact that we once again are forced to miss yet another weekend of going to Haunts. With not eating anything for a week straight, Greg and Alex give whatever they have left in them to keep the streak going and get out another week of a podcast episode. They talk all about what has taken them out of commission for the last week. Greg isn’t happy as another weekend vacation of plans had to be cancelled. What has he been watching all week being that he lost the tv remote? How is Alex dealing with him and the babies while she herself is beyond sick? Are the girls behaving? Is Greg going to make it? Find out all of that as well as why Greg is advising why not to eat the Orange snow in this week’s episode. Sorry it’s not a very long one this week, but really… we truly have been insanely sick for over a week straight.…

In this week’s episode, we talk all about our 2024 Haunt plans and which ones we would like to visit this year. We mention some of our older favorites to some brand new ones that are opening this year. We have a bunch of plans and even though we are getting off to a late start (due to the fact that our entire house is extremely sick), there is still plenty of time to visit our entire list of Haunted Houses. We are also joined by Rob from The Conover Killings as he gives us a glimpse of what to expect this year from the woods where Jonathon runs wild. THE CHAMP IS HERE! Well, one of the champs from the Staten Island Men’s softball team The Wackoz (although Alex does consider herself a vital piece of the team as well!) This episode we break down, specifically, Men’s softball. And even more specifically, Staten Island Men’s softball. As you can imagine… lots of stories about fights breaking out on the field (even teammates going at each other!). Breaking down the different types of softball players was definitely entertaining! We also give the entire history of The Wackoz from Greg’s first day on the field (and a rule he totally forgot about while up at bat) to the most recent Championship the Wackoz have won a few weeks ago!…

This week we bring you along with us through our past week. It was a crazy one that definitely left us exhausted but man, was it worth it! From back to back night of The Starting Line to taking our girls to see Limpbizkit and getting a once in a lifetime experience that we’ll never forget. We also talk about how Greg is now seeing the other side of concerts as well as our trip to the Met game. This week we continue our Carny talk and break down all types of carnival and boardwalk games. From the classic water shooting game to a newer one that is literally just hanging for 2 minutes straight. Which ones do we love? Which ones are rigged? Which ones do we have the best tips and tricks (or, loophole) for? We tell it all! Make sure you listen through as Greg gives his 100% guarantee win for one specific game. Step right up… and win a giant unnecessarily oversized banana!…
This week we embrace the summer heat and talk all about boardwalks and carnivals. From the Carneys secret language and gang fights to the Freak shows and all of the rides and food. We mention what we love about it all and what are must dos each and every time we go. Greg came prepared with pages and pages of notes and research. It seems like he might ditch the podcast life to become a real life Carney! Quick note on today’s episode… the app that we use to upload podcasts redid their format so our intro/outro/contact info would not upload with their new format. We will try to figure it out by next week. But in the meantime, enjoy our new episode on Boardwalk and Carnival Talk!…

We don’t do this often on the Anything Goes Podcast. In fact, we’ve only done it 1 other time to pay honor to one of the original Disney Imagineer Rolly Crump. But when we have the opportunity to celebrate the birthday of one of the nicest most genuine people in this entire world… We will always jump at the opportunity to wish Janell the happiest birthdays of them all. Janell is a 20 plus year friend of ours and a listener of the podcast since day 1! We had the privilege of interviewing Janell during our Hometown Hero series and Janell surely fits that category better than anyone else that we know! Take a trip back with us as we interviewed Janell (aka Mama Shelter) as she tells us all about her experience volunteering and helping troubled kids at the Naivasha Children's Shelter Volunteer in Kenya! For our Halfway to Halloween episode, we do a deep dive into the “Anything Goes” vault. We found an unreleased episode from a year and a half ago and thought it would be fun to finally get it out to the world! This episode was meant to be released on Friday, January 13th, 2023, when we had a trip planned to Hell House to do a paranormal investigation with the P.A.R.A.Normal team and Daryl Marston. Unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts, we never made it to that investigation, but these were our pre thoughts and feelings leading up to what would have been our first ever Panarnormal Investigation. We talk about how we actually all live in the past and how there is such a thing as a haunted house summer camp (which we both would have loved as kids!). Even though we are both pretty sick right now, it didn’t stop us from sitting down and talking about some random things on our minds. Although Wrestlemania has become an entire weekend event, somehow we still get excited for it, especially when our Tribal Chief is headlining both nights! Welcome to the 2024 MLB season! This week we talk about baseball starting up and how, as Met fans, we aren’t too hopeful but are still excited for the season to begin. We also talk about some of the Ohtani scandal and what we think about it all. Greg also becomes some kind of physicist and talks about living in the past, present and future. This week we talk all about what it’s like to have twin toddlers! From the good to the crazy, we break down a day in the life of our daughters. Alex admits she’s just as obsessed with Bluey as they are and mentions what she thinks might be the toughest part of it all. Greg tells a few stories about what fatherhood has done to him (yes, it includes arguing with a toddler) and how fun this ride really has been this far. As if spending 30 hours straight inside of Six Flags Great Adventure wouldn’t be scary enough…. Imagine doing it overnight… inside of a coffin!!! In this week’s episode, we speak with Kerri who did exactly that! Kerri competed in the Six Flags Great Adventure 30 hour coffin challenge and she is here to tell us all about it. From her very interesting backstory, to what the audition process was like, to the challenges that she had to compete in… Kerri walks us through it all and tells us what it was really like to be in the park at 3 AM! After getting to know Kerri, it is no surprise that she was only 1 of 6 people chosen out of 6,000 to take part in this one of a kind experience. Did she survive the full 30 hours? Well, if you are a fan of six flags, Halloween, competition, or just like hearing a fun story, this one is for you!…

Halloween might be over, but the Brookdale Haunted Theater lives forever… at least it has for the past 20 years! In this week’s episode, we went back to visit one of our favorite haunts, The Brookdale Haunted Theater located right on its own college campus. We were able to experience the best of what their last 20 years had to offer as we walked through their haunt. (Spoiler alert, not everybody that night made it completely through). We were able to see 20 years of some fan favorite scenes, as well as a personal favorite design of our own. Not only did this Haunt live up to the hype of their 20th year, but they took it to the next level. Grab yourself an ice cream cone and take a listen as we try to match Addeline up with her true love!…

This week we break our own record by going to FOUR different haunted attractions in one night. We have done all 4 Disney parks in one day and decided it was time to take it to the next level and do 4 haunts in one night! Located all over NYC, these 4 haunts took us about 6 hours to do and they were all worth the exhaustion! First we stopped at Terror Vision: Live the Nightmare and got to speak with Dalton, then Blood Manor, followed by Nightmare: Dollhouse and ended our night in Brooklyn with Ridgewood Asylum. Each one of these haunts were so different from each other and there’s so much we love about all of them. We are still recouping from this late weeknight but it was totally worth it! There is only one way we know how to celebrate Halloween week and that’s by doing 4 Haunts in 1 night!…
This week we sit down with Tyler and Siddhi from 4H House of Horrors. 4H is a non-profit youth development program that helps many people in need. Along with all of that they also run a Haunted House! House of Horrors is one for the entire family to enjoy. From their fun and creepy walk through to their Hayride which gives everyone a perfect look at everything they have to offer during it no matter where you are sitting. Not only is this a great haunt to support but some wonderful people who do some amazing things. With many other fund raising events through out the year, there are so many great ways to help out. Bring the whole family and check this one out! If you’d like to donate: http://4hmiddlesexfair.org/ Instagram: @4hhouseofhorrrorsnj…

We visited pumpkin patches, Halloween houses, Dinosaur LuminoCity and so many haunted houses. We had even more planned but unfortunately between weather and random things changing our schedules, we had to push them back! We talk all about everything and also mention some of what we have coming up. From even MORE haunted houses to some great interviews. So make sure you help us celebrate Greg’s birthday and send over all the hate mail you can!!…

Family farm by day, scariest Haunted house by night! This week we talk all about Oasis family farm and their nighttime haunt, Island of Terror. We had a fun filled Fall day at their family farm, checking out the pumpkin patch, Kid area, food trucks, animals and so much more. Then we break down our night at Oasis Island of Terror which is, as Greg phrased it, pound for pound the scariest haunt we have been to. From the completely dark Blackout walkthrough to The Woods Have Eyes, a unique trail through the woods which brings you into so many interactive scenes. It’s safe to say (and this is saying a lot!) that this is the most scared we’ve EVER been at a haunt. On Friday the 13th, this haunt is very fitting! https://www.oasisislandofterror.com/…
This week we talk to Steve, the owner and mind behind 13th Hour Haunted House. Steve gives us a breakdown of how this haunt came to be and everything it has to offer. From the haunted house to escape rooms and axe throwing, this place is the perfect way to fill a day (and night!) with a great time. We also break down our experience doing the brand new Wizard of Oz Escape room, which (spoiler alert) was by far the best escape room we have EVER experienced! If you know Alex, you know she was in her heaven during this room! Steve was kind enough to give us a behind the scenes tour, let us give knife throwing a try, see his massive storage warehouse and gave us a look inside his creative and crazy mind which creates all that you’ll see inside the 3 Attractions at 13th Hour Haunted House! Check out all 13th Hour has to offer: https://13thhour.com/…

In this week’s very special episode, we are joined by writer, director, haunt owner and The Emperor of Immersive Horror, Timmy Haskell. Timmy Haskell has been scaring and entertaining people for over 20 years as he is the mastermind behind the power house “Psycho Clan”. In this in depth tell all interview, Timmy tells us all about what inspired him to originally want to scare people, to his favorite production that he has ever put on. We talk about it all from the years of Nightmare NYC, to the time he built a Kellogg’s Pop Tart interactive haunt in Union Square. Even though Timmy has already done it all, he is still going strong with this year’s opening of Nightmare Dollhouse in NYC and The Horsemen: Terror Lies in Chaos in Sleepy Hollow. If you are a horror fan of any kind, this episode is certainly for you! Timmy even plays along with Keep It or Kill It and answers the very tough question of who he would keep and who he would kill… Greg or Alex!…
In this very special bonus Wednesday night episode, we interview Rob from The Conover Killings. Give this one a listen as we kick off our very exciting 2023 Haunt Season! To reserve a time slot for The Conover Killings, call or text Rob at 757-817-2517 www.theconoverkillings.com…
This week we freak ourselves out by talking all about different phobias. We talk about the ones we legitimately have (which may or may not be strange ones!) and some that other people may have and how extreme phobias can really get. Since Halloween season officially kicked off, we figured why not give you all the creeps by talking about things that might creep you out! Hopefully we don’t have to encounter and overcome any of our phobias at any of the upcoming haunts that we will be visiting. One of us may not make it out alive!…
This episode we officially kick off the 2023 Halloween season with an interview with our new friend Neil! We came to find out that Neil used to run and own a Halloween store called Halloween Express and he tells us everything that went into it. From which items were the best selling to the conventions he would go to every year to check out the newest Halloween trends and products! We love any good insight into the Halloween world and this was a new (and super interesting) one for us to hear about. Also, since Neil is a listener of ours, we ask him some questions about what he thinks of our episodes (like if he found Greg’s 200 thank yous entertaining or annoying). We definitely had some good laughs on this one and we think you’ll love Neil as much as we do! Check out Neil’s friend Vinny’s Halloween store: http://www.halloweenwholesalersnj.com/…

In this weeks episode we recap our experience at the I Heart Horror convention. We took the trip over and spent the day with over 50 different vendors and it sure did not disappoint! The vendors had everything from some delicious coffee and hot sauce to one of a kind horror memorabilia, props and masks. We also came across some vintage VHS tapes and Greg couldn’t help himself but to pick some of those up. We surely enjoyed everything from the live music to the Wawa spin wheel (if Wawa is there you know it’s good!) to authors and actor/actresses to the funko pops that also made their way home with us. This won’t be the last we cover this convention as we made so many new friends by being there and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them all! https://www.instagram.com/ihearthorror24?igsh=MXA2MGU2c3J4aWw4OQ==…

This week we take a trip into the movies as we have some movie trivia for each other. The rules of this episode are simple…you choose one line from any movie and the other person has to guess what movie it is. Sounds easy right? Some movies aren’t as easy as you’d think! Does Alex know Wizard of Oz as much as she thinks? Does Greg have 8 pages of notes? Are they both completely delirious? These are all very possible things. Come play along and see if you can guess these movies from just one line!…

How does Story of the Year inspire Greg to jump in the pool and also make him a better podcaster? How do they link to Greg joining a band without even trying out and why is he so nervous that Alex proclaims her love for Story of the Year… multiple times! We will surely love this band… Until The Day We Die!!!…

We discuss what it was like to drive in a crazy ice storm on the Garden State Parkway with cars spinning out of control all around us. This episode is so bad it’s good! This week we are talking about the top 5 movies we watched as kids that were so bad that they were actually so good. Everything from an arm wrestling trucker to a boy in a bubble… we watched some strange movies as kids! According to Greg all of his movies are “iconic” and rotten tomatoes is crazy for giving the ratings they gave. But the Nostalgia is real for us in this episode as we talk and reminisce all about our childhood.…
In the most colorful episode yet we take a trip over to the Crayola Experience in Easton, PA. In a spur of the moment decision we threw the kids in the car (not literally) and drove over to spend the day at the Crayola Experience. We were more than surprised to see that they offered even more than you would think! From customizing your own crayon to a 2 story “Color Playground”, this place did not disappoint! Make a trip over there to see the largest Crayola collection in the world (literally!) and to make some really cool crayon molds. The Crayola Experience is the perfect day for some family fun! Although Greg and Alex definitely think they would have had a blast all by themselves!…

Halloween may be over but the new creepy experiences keep on coming! We took a drive over to Long Beach, NY and visited Nightmare on Beech Street. Brought to you by the creators of Blood Manor, This immersive dining experience is one like no other. Putting you right in the middle of a horror movie as you eat an amazing 3 course meal. This one is definitely worth checking out as it is totally different than anything we have experienced. It’s the newest thing to hit the haunt scene and we think it’s going to be the next big thing. Disclaimer: Greg may or may not go off about his love for ice cream (spoiler… he does) https://www.nightmareonbeechstreet.com/…
Keeping Halloween season going strong, we visited Brighton Asylum. This haunt we visited 10 years ago (for its opening year) and it keeps getting bigger and better. From his days of taking over MTV, to running the NYC Arts Cypher, to breakdancing on Impractical Jokers, to running the scariest haunted house that Staten Island has ever seen, Charlie B was a motivational and positive asset to our community. 1:32:07This episode is Legend...wait for it...DARY! Legendary is the only way to put this interview with one of the writers of How I Met Your Mother, Chris Harris (no relation to NPH we found out). Not only did he work on HIMYM but he also worked as a writer on The David Letterman Show as well as becoming a New York Times Best Selling Author. This was a great way to close out our 2020 season as we needed all of these laughs to end a year like this one! https://justchrisharris.com/ https://twitter.com/justchrisharris?s=11…

Take a trip down 8 Mile with us. In this episode we talk to the Relationship Bodyguard who has seen and done it all, Byron Williams. Let’s just say Eminem’s old bodyguard has some serious stories to tell (from reading the Bible with Eminem to learning how to sleep with his gun by his side). Bryon was there from the beginning and has seen some crazy things! Now retired from that life, Bryon is an author and father. From writing his books to running his own podcast, Bryon shows he is definitely still doing his thing these days. With Bryon being such a humble and down to earth guy, this interview is a must listen as he tells stories like only he can. https://instagram.com/choc_magnum?igshid=bjreu4foypf3 https://www.amazon.com/BYRON-Big-Naz-WILLIAMS/e/B004HAXVN2…

Mark breaks it all down for us, from his stay in Pinal County Jail to his awkward fist bump to what he would keep and kill. This is one of our favorite shows and easy to say one of our favorite interviews! Mark is humble, funny and “Lit AF” (although his kids think otherwise). Give this a listen as we talk to Mark as well as break down our favorite aspects of the show from seasons 1-5. Don’t miss it or we will send the Second in Command, Mark over to take care of you! https://youtube.com/c/AwkwardFistBumpProductions https://m.facebook.com/awkfbp/ https://twitter.com/therealmark60?s=21…
