170. Rebel Moon, The Curse, Poker Face, And Christmas Movies Or Is Andrew A Holiday Softy?
Manage episode 393339646 series 3385226
This week it's just Andrew and Kevin and they cover Rebel Moon, The Curse, Poker Face, Genie, and The Best Christmas Ever! They manage to keep it relatively tight in spite of the amount of content and a good portion of it is dedicated to Rebel Moon.
The show kicks off with Andrew jumping right into it. He liked the movie more than the critics did (not hard to do, really...) and, as the discussion goes on, it seems like Kevin did, too. He doesn't like it as much as Andrew, but he gives it higher praise than most other recent Snyder films. Andrew even takes a minute to compare the film to the '80s film, Battle Beyond the Stars, which is an eerily similar plot!
Next up Kevin talks about the Showtime series, The Curse. It's an A24 series and it's an art piece, so VERY subjective. And with Kevin the subject, he's very critical of it. It's an interesting series that he'll watch all of but he's not sure he can actually recommend it to anyone. So with that, watch at your own risk!
While Andrew gathers his notes, Kevin steers the conversation to Holiday films for the last (recorded) episode of 2023. He discusses the Peacock film, Genie, starring Melissa McCarthy. This film revolves solely around Melissa's ability to carry a scene, but it leaves a lot to be desired on the story front. Kevin has some serious issues with the development and shares those outright.
Once he's gathered his notes, Andrew takes over with a Christmas review of his own, Best Christmas Ever! He claims he had to watch it because he has a girlfriend now and this is a sacrifice he has to make, but I think we all know the truth... That said, he didn't absolutely hate this movie, though Rotten Tomatoes suggests maybe everyone else did!
Kevin rounds out the show with a review of the Peacock series, Poker Face, starring Natasha Lyonne. As with just about everything she does, Kevin loved it. It's a smart, creative, and witty take on the crime dramedy and definitely worth your time!
Andrew closes the show with some notes on the most recent season of Invincible and, if you are a facial hair aficionado, there's some bonus footage at the end for you!
As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! Also, leave us comments and let is know how we are doing and what we can be doing better. Enjoy the episode and have a great week!
