Hilde Mosse comes from one of the wealthiest families in Berlin and stands to inherit an enormous fortune. But she longs for something more meaningful than the luxurious lifestyle her family provides. So Hilde decides to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. As the Nazis take power in Germany and the Mosse family is forced to flee, Dr. Hilde Mosse lands in New York having nearly lost everything.. She finds her calling treating the mental health of Black youth – and the symptoms of a racist system. In addition to photographs, school records, and correspondence spanning Hilde Mosse’s entire lifetime, the Mosse Family Collection in the LBI Archives includes the diaries she kept between 1928 and 1934, from the ages of 16-22. Hilde’s papers are just part of the extensive holdings related to the Mosse Family at LBI. Learn more at lbi.org/hilde . It's the episode we've wanted to make from the start! Join Alex and Jude and their brilliant guest Paula Bishop from Two Magpies for an honest and entertaining chat about the menopause, how it affects us and what we can learn from our experiences at this stage in our life - our "second spring", as Paula rather beautifully calls it. Paula describes herself as a "midlife well being mentor", but we would just describe her as a wise and wonderful woman. Whether you are experiencing the menopause yourself, or just know someone else who is (we bet that covers everybody), we think you will really enjoy this episode, with lots of useful insights and bags of positivity. So, to mark #WorldAlzheimersMonth Jude shares some of her personal experience of these diseases (it isn't just Alzheimer's) with Alex, before they go on to talk to the inspirational Katie Thomas. This month we are chatting with TV critic, Dr Who enthusiast and all-round good egg Paul Kirkley about all things telly. With a dash of nostalgia for the 70s, a lot of raving about recent "classic" series and some surprising opinions on one of TV's National Treasures, we had so much to talk about we nearly couldn't cram it all into one show! So grab the remote, put your favourite programme on pause, just for a bit, and join us to chat about the best - and the worst - of the box.
