101. Entrepreneurship in Rural Kansas with Brandi Lahey
Manage episode 432602464 series 3559200
In today’s episode, Brandi Lahey and I talk about all things entrepreneurship in rural Kansas. Brandi has a degree in nursing and didn’t set out to be an entrepreneur, but her rural location, staying home with her children, cooking for harvest dinners, and doing tasks on the farm made her look for something to fill her cup even more.
Brandi’s first business, Cimarron Prairie Farms, started by growing hops and selling them to local breweries. She later opened a mobile bar, The Tipsy Farmer, a unique and rare business model for Kansas when she began in 2021. The mobile bar was a part of different events, which led her to purchase a property with an old horse barn to turn into a wedding venue, Wild Sage Ranch.
Brandi shares different dynamics of entrepreneurship in a rural town, including the obstacles and challenges, as well as the most rewarding and exciting parts. We also talk about professional and personal development and how big of an impact it can make.
