Monthly Topic: MARGIN Thanks for joining us today as we wrap up our month long discussion on Margin. Follow along with us as we determine if we are overwhelming our bandwidth in our communities, or if we have the margin to participate in areas in which we are compelled. Alongside us, ask yourself what breaks your heart? Then do something about it. Join us?…
Monthly Topic: MARGIN Margin is the space between doing all the things that you have to and want to do in life. In design, it’s called the “white space” where the eye can rest so it will be drawn to the filled space. Join us as we learn how to make space in our lives, and how it is not a luxury, but a necessity to leading a healthy and intentional life.…
Monthly Topic: IDENTITY During today’s episode - find out how we are our own worst enemies with the stories we tell. The fact is that we are all just faking it until we make it - and GOOD FOR US! In community is how we learn, and have the opportunities to practice playing out the identities we choose. In what ways are you practicing, learning and adapting who you are?…
Monthly Topic: IDENTITY Today we scratch the surface of a discussion on maintaining our identities in close relationships. Of course, t’s natural to compromise, adapt, and grow as we learn how to interact in our close relationships. Ultimately, only you get to decide which values are foundational to you, and which areas you can compromise. It’s a delicate balance, and one we want to be intentional about paying attention to.…
Monthly Topic: IDENTITY In today’s episode, Jackie asks us, “how do we use IDENTITY to describe ourselves?” And then, what happens when things change? Both of us are rooted in Christian faith, so we believe that strong foundation does not change. Our identity is first with Christ, as we: Are created in God’s image; The old is gone and the new is here; God’s mercies are new each morning; and He chose ALL of us for this! So we remind ourselves of these truths by training our thoughts and our actions.…
Monthly topic: IDENTITY Today we ask, “Who are you?” How do you see yourself? How do you define yourself? Giving voice to our identities, deciding who we want to be and intentionally stepping into the world fully YOU has great benefits. Join us today as we embrace our identity with confidence, authenticity and congruency.…
Monthly Topic: REFLECTION Communities are made up of individuals who are either practicing reflection … or not. We’ve discussed the many benefits we experience - and growth we are able to achieve -when we reflect. But how do we influence our communities to participate? How do we model reflection and empathy in community groups and in our neighborhoods?…
Monthly Topic: REFLECTION Jackie leads us through 5 major benefits of incorporating reflection into our close relationships. She also leads us through 3 pitfalls of reflection. Join us as we practice countering the pitfalls and practicing healthy reflection that leads to growth and better relationships.…
Monthly Topic: REFLECTION In today’s episode, we go big with following God’s command to sit back, take stock, rest, and remember. Over and again God does amazing miracles, and over and again God reminds us to stop and remember. It is in this remembrance, this reflection on alllll the ways God has been faithful, that we are reminded that he will continue to provide and be faithful and love us. We continue to find that reflection breeds gratitude and celebration!…
Monthly Topic: REFLECTION WELCOME to the seventh (7!!) season of the Jackie & Stacey Show. In today’s very first episode, we begin where we always do: with SELF. We discuss how important it is for us to stop. When we stop, we intentionally reflect on what we have done, what we have achieved, and where we have failed. Reflection is an important part of the beginning of a cycle or season of life. Listen in to find out more!…
Monthly Topic: TENSION In today’s episode we: 1. Brainstorm types of tensions we encounter in communities (cultural, political, socio-economic, access to justice, etc); 2. Discuss the impacts of those different tensions (negative and positive); and 3. Highlight the ways in which we can manage our community tensions (acknowledging, navigating, highlighting the good, etc). Join us as we hold the tensions we face in community with grace.…
Monthly Topic: TENSION Listen in with us as we wade through e multitudes of ways to experience tension in close relationships. Jackie and Stacey describe several ways we experience tensions - and remind us all that tensions are not problems to be solved, but instead topics to be monitored and managed. Then we discuss ways to do just that: monitor and manage the inevitable continuing tensions in close relationships.…
Monthly Topic: TENSION There are so many instances of tension within faith, and today we explore a few of them. Join us as we manage the tensions of what is versus what is to come; what we want to do versus what we actually do; and more dichotomies of living in faith.
Monthly Topic: TENSION After Jackie brought up Andy Stanley’s latest leadership wisdom we had to pursue this topic further. In today’s episode, we start with ourselves, and how we define the different types of tension: problems to be solved (temporary tension) and tension to be managed (ongoing tension). We hope you find this topic as fascinating as we do!…
Monthly Topic: LOYALTY Jane and Lexi drop some major wisdom! Tune in to the podcast to listen in on our interview of these two teenage philosophers! From faith to love, we’ve covered it all. What does loyalty mean to you?
Monthly Topic: LOYALTY There are many benefits a community experiences because of the loyalty of its members: longevity, support, camaraderie, and more. We discuss some great communities we are in that we get these benefits from. And also, we discuss the challenges experienced in communities when there is blind loyalty, or challenges to loyalty. This continues to be a super engaging topic!…
Monthly Topic: LOYALTY This topic continues to fascinate us! In this episode, we wonder especially if you can be loyal to a person, but not loyal to that person’s opinions/ideas/values? It so interesting *especially* in this political climate, but really any time we disagree with someone we love.
Monthly Topic: LOYALTY In today’s episode we struggle with the concept of blind loyalty in faith, compared to the benefits of faith practices. We work through which aspects of faith and values to hold on to tightly, and which we can hold loosely. In zero instances must we live in fear that our faith is a house of cards, and cannot survive healthy questioning and critical thinking.…
Monthly Topic: LOYALTY Loyalty is such and interesting concept: sticking by someone/something no matter what. We discuss in today’s episode: is that healthy? Is it controlling to demand or expect loyalty? When do you give loyalty freely? A fascinating topic, and we hope this episode sparks reflection of your own brand of loyalty.…
Monthly Topic: Failure Eddie is a long time friend of Stacey’s, a local real estate estate agent, and life long leaner. In this interview, Eddie shares why he wasn’t offended in the slightest when we asked to interview him on the topic of failure. His perspective, deep thoughtfulness, and genuine desire to maintain a growth mindset will inspire you as it did us.…
How many times have we failed at bringing community together? Oh, let us count the ways… However, as we have continued to ask throughout this month: is it really a failure to not succeed at something? Instead, we choose to frame the stories we tell about things that doesn’t work out: we choose to build resilience, to make sure we are congruent with our values, and we choose who we surround ourselves with in community.…

Monthly Topic: FAILURE You lost the game, you didn’t get the job, someone else got the girl. You failed. How do you respond? What now? In today’s episode we unpack the negative emotions that may come from failure. Then we come up with a plan to reframe failure into an opportunity to get smarter, to learn.…

Thank you for showing up for our community.…
Monthly Topic: UNCERTAINTY. We start today’s episode discussing the adage, “life is 10% what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it.” It cannot be more evident than with the level of uncertainty we experience in the great big world of our communities - a place where anything can (and does happen!)…

No matter your level, Jackie will teach us 5 ways to practice accepting uncertainty in close relationships.

We would love to hear your thoughts!…

Monthly Topic: RESPONSIBILITY Jackie poses an interesting stance about responsibility in faith: we don’t have any. The Bible does go on and on about how we need God, and we can’t ever earn forgiveness or entrance into heaven, or anything really - it’s all about Jesus. So, is Jackie’s statement true? Listen in for the discussion!…

Monthly Topic: AGENCY. Movement > motivation. Done is better than perfect. Today we encourage you to take action in an area or on an idea that may be a baby step - the first bite of the elephant. Because nobody ever accomplished much by just complaining about it!
Monthly Topic: AGENCY Today we zone in and discuss agency through the specific relationship of parenting. Allll day every day we are modeling agency to our children. Jackie and Stacey are firm believers in parenting with the end in mind. If we step in and solve all our kids problems for them, will they ever learn agency? Practice asking these questions with your kids: what do you have agency over? … and what do you not?…
Monthly Topic: AGENCY. Do you consider it pure joy when you face trials of any kind? Nope? Neither does Stacey. BUT, we do know that our response, our AGENCY, that we exercise in all the situations and trials of life is what builds resilience, and ultimately, that pure joy. Join us as we decide to not hunt down the snake (you’ll have to listen to find out what the heck that means!)…
Monthly Topic: AGENCY. Agency is your sense of what you can or cannot do; the power you believe you have to affect your future. In today’s episode, we discuss how, especially in our youth, it seemed like things happened TO us. Yet, as we age and mature, we become more aware that we are not just products of our circumstances. I’m today’s episode, we discuss how we can let go of expectations and assumptions in order to accept others and live healthfully in community.…
Monthly Topic: WHOLENESS Wholeness is NOT dependent on others … but how do we avoid putting that expectation on those who we are in close relationship with? Great question. Please let us know when you find out. Haha! JK! Kinda. It DOES start with an understanding that who I am is MY business and who they are is THEIR business. Easier said than done?!…
Monthly Topic: WHOLENESS If being perfect in all areas of health isn’t the goal (because: unattainable), what does wholeness in faith look like? Jesus says to love the Lord your God with all your heart (relational health), mind (mental health), soul (spiritual health), and strength (physical health), and to love others as yourself. [Mark 12:30] Today we discuss how life is about the process, the progress, and the practice of sanctification. Sanctification is growing more like Jesus: loving God and loving people.…
Monthly Topic: WHOLENESS We spent the last 4 months exploring the four areas of Health in our series: Mental, Physical, Relational & Spiritual. Monthly Topic: RELATIONAL HEALTH Maintaining healthy relationships with our closest people is simple. Simple, but not easy. First, we each must learn about ourselves. Head back to our first episode on this topic for more depth (and every single topic we do starts with self!). Be willing to do the work. Second, practice communication - both for what you want/need, and listening for what your close people want/need. Third, manage your expectations and set boundaries so you can make healthy choices in your closest relationships. Practice, practice, practice! ❤️…

Today we work through three steps to learn to love yourself: knowing that you have an unlimited source of love within, acknowledging truth, and practicing forgiveness. We highly recommend the book “The Mastery of Love” by don Miguel Ruiz to learn more!…

Monthly Topic: MENTAL HEALTH *disclaimer: we are DEF not mental health experts, just two people who want to talk about what this means to us*. The term “mental health” refers to our emotional, psychological and social well-being. It is how we think, feel and act. When effects of any of these are too big, too much, or too often occurring, it may be called “mental illness”. Today we talk about how common it is for one (or all) of these areas to make us feel bad, and that we can ask for help!…
