Key Scripture:
- Ephesians 2:19
Main Points:
Heaven's Government: As citizens of heaven, believers are under the reign of Christ, the King of heaven. Our hearts are aligned with heaven's will, and we joyfully obey the decrees of our Great King. Our daily prayer is for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Sharing in Heaven's Honors: Believers share in the honors and glory of heaven. We are already sons and daughters of God, princes and princesses of royal blood, clothed in the righteousness of Jesus. We have angels as our servants, saints as our companions, Christ as our Brother, God as our Father, and a crown of immortality as our reward.
Common Rights to Heaven's Riches: As citizens, we have rights to all the property of heaven. The gates of pearl, walls of chrysolite, the river of the water of life, and the twelve kinds of fruit are all ours. Everything in heaven belongs to us, both present and future.
Enjoying Heaven's Delights: Believers participate in the joys and delights of heaven. We rejoice over sinners who repent, sing the glories of triumphant grace, cast our honors at Jesus' feet, and are charmed by His smile. We also eagerly await His second coming.
Living Worthy of Our Citizenship: Understanding our heavenly citizenship calls us to live in a manner consistent with this high dignity. Our walk and actions should reflect the honor and privilege of being citizens of heaven.
