In today’s episode of Truth Wanted, MD Aware and Calvin Smith give a repeat caller some deep thinking homework to help reduce his ad hoc claims, before discussing Diquis Spheres and how to prevent the furthering of pseudoscience.

Frequent Caller in TX argues that people who saw god did not actually recognize him as god. How does this equate to everyone needing to believe in god? Have we interacted with god and did not realize it? This is an unjustifiable hypothesis. How is it my problem if I interact with someone or something and not know it is god? What definition of god are you proposing? Are there any non-physical versions of god and how do you know if there is or isn't? Why do you choose the non-crazy things to believe about god? You don’t start with the belief and work backwards to prove it, that is not how science works. How do we know which religion is right? Is there one true god that is the same for all religions and is just called different names? If you threw a box of marbles in the ocean, how do you justify believing that the total number of marbles are both odd and even? If someone shot me, and I just don’t believe in bullets, would I still be okay?

Raven in Central America says that separation of church and state comes from constitutional analysis and asks if Calvin is aware of the Diquis Spheres found in Costa Rica. We can agree these are just super cool circles that humans made. The U.S. has white washed the history of Christianity through genocide and hiding how religion was used as a tool of oppression.

Phil in CA calls to confirm that Calvin is not furthering the pseudoscience of Graham Hancock. Calvin clarifies that he does not agree with Hancock currently, and was something he once followed. Calvin has never claimed to know these things are true, and is on the same page as Phil. Be careful to take context into consideration. We just need this Graham Hancock to call in!
